Can you answer joe’s question about Menopause?:

I would like to check my levels to determine if my problems could be premenopause, but I have been told I would have to discontinue my birth control pills to get the true results. Any information would be appreciated.

Menopause Feedback: As a healthcare provider I can tell you that you have been given the right answer. Truthfully, as long as you are getting supplemental estrogen (as in the pill) you should not be getting any menopausal symptoms. Think about it…..we give estrogen for menopausal symptoms to stop them. If we checked your levels with you on the pill….we would get normal levels even if you were premenopausal.

Menopause Feedback: You must discontinue the use of the bcp’s in order to go through hormonal testing. Otherwise, the pills would affect the results of the tests.
