What are the most common problems after a hysterectomy?

Can you answer Cherish’s question about Menopause?:

I had a hysterectomy like 2 months ago and I am still having alot of pain! It is really intense! It is at times different from the pain I had before my hysterectomy (Due to Endometriosis) I was wondering what else could be going on?

I would be interested in the answers that you have. I will be undergoing a complete hysterectomy because I have severe endometreosis, and my pain is coming from all the implants in my body. I am expecting that I will have pain beyond two months because it’s major surgery. I had an appendectomy on 2/27/09 and I’m still sore from that and it was laparscopic. I think everyones pain thereshold is different, and I know mine is high. I will feel lucky if I can kill the implants, and continue on with my life without pain, how ever long it will be, with or without HRT. I’m 43 now.

Menopause Feedback: I know 2 month feels like a long time to feel pain. You did not say what kind of an hysterectomy you had was it a total one (including ovaries) or just the uterus? These are the 3 “versions”
Complete or total. Removes the cervix as well as the uterus. (This is the most common type of hysterectomy.)
Partial or subtotal. Removes the upper part of the uterus and leaves the cervix in place.
Radical. Removes the uterus, the cervix, the upper part of the vagina, and supporting tissues.
Was it an Abdominal hysterectomy? If yes, recovery usually takes four to eight weeks. You will gradually be able to increase your activities. For some women even 8 weeks are not enough to heal.
Vaginal or laparoscopic. Most women are able to return to normal activity in one to two weeks, again this is individual.

I suppose you went back to your gynecologist for a check-up? If you did or didn’t maybe its time to go again and be reassured that all is healing well.

If you have more question please do not hesitate to ask me. (I am a woman).
