How likely is it that Progesterone suppositories will work?

Can you answer audra’s question about Menopause?:

I am 5 weeks prego with a low progesterone of 9.6 and my doc prescribed 100mg twice a day. I really hope that they work, but I am nervous.

Menopause Feedback: I took a progesterone supplement to lengthen my luteal phase and it worked very well. It’s a natural supplement, so your body will deal with it really well and the only side effects you’ll feel are the ones that you’re supposed to feel in pregnancy (tiredness etc). The reason you need it is that the baby needs this hormone and it’s normally made by the part of the egg that break away at ovulation (the corpus luteum). Sometimes the CL doesn’t make quite enough, so you can simply add a little bit to what it is making (the 9.6). But your doctor will probably stop the progesterone at the end of your first trimester because by then, the placenta is fully developed. Having said that, I know of women who use it all the way through pregnancy and they said it helps with post-partum issues too. Many congratulations on your pregnancy and have a great 9 months :)

Menopause Feedback: I was scared of progesterone too. But honestly, it worked really well for me. Progesterone will keep your uterus nice and healthy in early pregnancy. You’re lucky that your doctor discovered your low progesterone, taking progesterone will correct the problem. You’ll probably be on it during your whole 1st trimester. After that, the placenta takes over.

Don’t be nervous, I didn’t have any side effects at all. You’ll be fine :)
Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!
