What is perimenopause?
Answered By Macy Waltersson and Brian Laing, Editors
Menopause has three stages, namely:
perimenopause, menopause, and post menopause.
Perimenopause is the period during which
women experience gradual changes in their
body which will automatically lead to
menopause. The woman's hormones, feelings,
and body are usually affected. This is also
called the 'climacteric' period, wherein
hormone production gradually slows down.
Since the hormone levels fluctuate, the woman
will experience certain changes similar to
changes that adolescents encounter during
adolescence transformation period.
Perimenopause begins at an average age of 51,
but some women in their 30's claim that they
are already undergoing perimenopause. They
encounter a lot of symptoms including
vasomotor instability and psychological changes.
