What is surgical menopause?
Answered By Macy Waltersson and Brian Laing, Editors
Surgical menopause is also known as another
form of induced menopause. Women who undergo
surgical menopause also experience the
different menopausal symptoms that most women
experience. The difference is that they no
longer have their ovaries, which brings about
an abrupt menopause, and so the symptoms they
experience are more severe than women
experiencing natural menopause. Women who had
their ovaries surgically removed also
experience severe and frequent hot flashes,
night sweats, and vaginal dryness.
