Can hormone replacement therapy prevent osteoporosis?
Answered By Macy Waltersson and Brian Laing, Editors
Yes, hormone replacement therapy can prevent
osteoporosis. It is useful in alleviating,
and even preventing the increasing rate of
bone-loss that can lead to osteoporosis.
Hormone replacement therapy develops and
retains the bone mass thereby preventing the
occurrence of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis
usually occurs several years after menopause.
Before using HRT, be sure to consult your
doctor first.
