TUESDAY, Oct. 18 (HealthDay News) -- Women do have options when it comes to treating hot flashes and other symptoms of menopause, and these still include the short-term use of hormone replacement therapy using estrogen alone, experts conclude in a new consensus report.
Women still have hot flushes and night sweats years after the menopause finds a new study published today in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The bottom line from all the research conducted and reported to date is 1. Talk openly with your doctor; 2. If you use HRT do so at the lowest dose that relieves symptoms and for the shortest time period; and 3. Avoid HRT if you have a history of cancer.
